Rainbow IV designed by Georges Crouch was ordered in autumn 1923 by Harry Greening at the same time as Baby Bootlegger and Miss Columbia. Georges Crouch had already designed the first 3 Rainbows. Rainbow IV is the fruit of a long collaboration between George Crouch and Harry Greening.
The Rainbow line is made up of fast, sturdy boats designed to take motorboating to the next level. In 1924, the Gold Cup, held annually in Detroit, USA, became the international challenge for Motonautisme. Rainbow IV won by a wide margin, flying over the course with its distinctive hull and the huge spray of water its propeller raised. However, he was disqualified in favor of Baby Bootlegger on the grounds that his hull was illegal.
After this disqualification, Harry Greenings set out with Rainbow IV to chase records.
On October 2, 1925, he broke the 24-hour distance record on a Canadian lake at an average speed of 93 km/hr. Rainbow IV's top speed is 97 km/h.
